Our methodology
How we vet roofers.
Before any roofer in our network can quote your project, they have to clear four bars. Here they are, in plain English.
The named program
ShowMyRoof Verified Pros
Every roofer who clears all four bundles below is part of ShowMyRoof Verified Pros — the small group we actually send your project to. There’s no tier system; either a roofer clears every bar, or they’re not in the network.
Bundle 01
Reputation
Google rating 4.8★ or higher with at least 25 reviews, plus a BBB rating of A− or better.
Why both: a high star count on a thin profile can be gamed; BBB catches active complaint patterns Google misses.
Bundle 02
Credentials
A state roofing license in every state that requires one, plus general liability and workers' comp insurance with certificates on file.
Why this matters: if someone gets hurt on your roof and the contractor isn't insured, liability falls on the homeowner.
Bundle 03
Workmanship
A manufacturer certification from at least one of: GAF Master Elite, CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster, or Owens Corning Platinum Preferred.
Why: these are paid, audited programs that require track record, training, and warranty-backing.
Bundle 04
Track record
At least 3 years in business under current ownership, and no unresolved complaints in the last 12 months.
Why: filters fly-by-night operators and active misbehavers.
What we keep checking
Vetting isn’t one-time. Every quarter we recheck rating, insurance, and complaints. A roofer who drops below any bundle is removed from rotation immediately — not after a grace period, not after a warning.
What we don’t do
We’re not an inspector. We don’t visit job sites. We don’t guarantee the workmanship itself — that’s between the roofer and the homeowner, backed by the manufacturer warranty and the roofer’s own warranty. What we guarantee is that the roofer who shows up cleared all four bundles when we last checked, and that we’ll drop them the moment they stop.
